It was a flower blooming like fresh road-kill
spread across a freeway ribbon,
the sun in its murdered guise;
the in-between time
when shock strangled sound,
and as the evidence faded away
to leave only the soft, subtle silhouette
of cut out card mountains, the generous night
littered stars like crack across a stained sheet
for jaded lovers to absorb,
and perhaps for a time, picture contentment
before the sudden hoar of half moon smile
shook reality from its daze.

A clever use of imagery and metaphor that takes the reader on a journey of the shock and awe of reality. A clever utilization of the word bank.
