Together on the dance floor kicking up our heels
her lips to mine she whispered "how good you make me feel"
hand in hand beneath the moon our love began to bloom
a jukebox in the corner played a lonesome country tune
Here comes another heartache it's cryin' time again
there's teardrops on my pillow and the blues are movin' in
haunted by the mem'ries of some old used to be
every time I fall in love I lose a piece of me
And then when morning came she's out the door and gone
a honky tonkin' angel right back where she belongs
uncertain in my lonely room without her by my side
Tequila straight and cigarettes to soothe my wounded pride
I remember how she looked at me the passion in her eyes
she said she loved me heart and soul but that was such a lie
I'm living now in lonesome town with whiskey in my veins
a better man for loving her in spite of all the pain
Here comes another heartache it's cryin' time again
there's teardrops on my pillow the blues are movin' in
haunted by the mem'ries of some old used to be
every time I fall in love I lose a piece of me
Here comes another heartache
when will you say goodbye
and let me live to love again
until the fire dies

i can't believe that this didn't win a trophy; it's astounding - and so lonely, so common nowadays, teh story it tells but nonetheless heartbreaking .... jawdropped here, just simply amazing

Superb plus
What a fantastic write. I lost count of the number of old country/western songs that this reminds me of.
Imagery, rhythm and rhyme are just fine. -
Very good indeed. I can sing to this one and relate to it as well. Pity I can't write music.
