Blonde hair shimmering like the stars at night
Skin so pale, has it ever seen the light?
In the darkness you do stay
under the water, out of the way.
Your playful and funny, always ready to laugh
Jokingly telling the fish to take a bath
You swim by night and sleep by day
So that into a net you never stray
A beauty you are, so vibrant and light
One that compares is never in sight
big blues eyes, sapphires of the sea
lips full of pout make everyone believe
The scales on your tail a rainbow of life
Happy and carefree you've never known strife
Hatched from an egg, you live all alone
Finding fun wherever you roam
But you are curious, what's the day like?
You've never roamed out of the night
You swim out of you hiding place
Watching the boats, thinking you are safe
But one day they catch you, you can't escape
Caught in the net, to be pulled in, you wait
Above the water you struggle to breathe
The death of the mermaid the sea creatures grieve...
