Do I need to say, 'I love you'
When you are right there every day
Can't I show it in some other way,
I really care for you with work I do.
I love you the whole year through
I'm sure I could take your pain away
If someone will show me the way,
I can carry enough for us two.
We share between us, life itself
And we're no longer young and spry
We're living - not sat on the shelf
We are lovers, I guess that's why.
I tell you now,"I love you dear"
You will never have cause to fear
For I'll not wander this great land
Unless you're with me, holding hands.

This is lovely, Bob, and I'm sure Lis was happy when you showed it to her.
I know how men find it hard to say, they work on show, not tell, but every woman longs to hear the words from her lover.

-
You are correct on all counts. Lis was happy, she does like to hear the actual words, and sometimes show is not quite enough.

Reading this reminded me of my Father and the way I think he may of felt for my Mother. Sweet and tender and very emotional.

Many men find it hard to say the words although they act in a loving way all the time. Thank you for your king and encouraging comment.

I like this one. I see some changes in your work for the better. Time and circumstance has a way of its magic on the human spirit. Happy trails neighbor

Thanks David, My Lis, with her encouragemnt and support, is really responsible for me writing at all. I guess you could say that this one is for her.

This is sweet and full of love.

I am one of those old fashioned quiet males who find it hard to just say "I love you". My better half says this is a great poem. It said what I had difficulty saying. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate your consideration.

Oh how sweeeeeeeet.

-
-
Thank you. Lis thought it was sweet too. It was a lot of hard work for a staid old man to open up like that. How's your world?

This is phenominal!
I don't think I have much more to say about it than that!
Good luck in the contest.

Many thanks Megan. It was a daunting piece to write.

Lis has seen this poem, it does not surprise me, for Bob shows his love for me in every breath he takes and in every action he makes. We are never far from each other in space or time or in writing.
I come late to my fulfilment in life; ours was a chance meeting, sealed with a pink carnation. Bob is my light and my guide. These nine years together have been nine truly loving years.
I am touched and a little embarrassed, yet I love him more for writing his soul poem to me.
I shall tuck this within my heart.
I love you too, Bob.
Elisabeth.

Now you know , my love. Although I don't say it enough,,"I love you'
-
-
Oh, this is so beautiful. I believe Elisabeth will be thrilled with this wonderful gesture from you. The words were exceptional, stating everything plainly and honestly. I wish i could put what i think into words like this.To love so well and with so much thoughtful intention is a great treasure. I believe a lot of that is lost these days. From your poems and words i can see the love that lives between you both and that is so fantastic. Well done indeed. No need for any change. Your love is Perfect.

Hi Eagle, Lis has read this tribute to our love. She was thrilled.
Thank you for a very flattering comment. It was one of the most difficult to write poems I have ever attempted to write. I knew the subject very well but putting my feelings on paper is quite daunting.

-
just beautiful poetry coming out from the deep of your heart my friend.........I love it...well done..and my thanks for sharing it...

I thank you for your very kind words. I have a wonderful life with a wonderful woman, it's worth writing about.

Bob
I think there are many ways to say.. I love you. And though I could never actually sy those words and mean them I do belive that actions and deeds are just a good. I've no dobt my friend that you truly understand what it is to love a women and that is wonderful.
-
-
Yes Bob, I do understand what it is to love a woman, and , like you , i have always found it hard to say so in plain words. What I now know is that a woman get pleasure from the words as well as the actions and deeds. I can, and do, say I Love you. I must admit it was hard to do for quite a while. Shared and returned love is wonderful.
Thanks for your comments, my friend.

Very good poem but I'll answer the question yes you do need to say I love you every day... heck several times a day. It's not that I am afraid of losing someone it's that I like to know that i am loved. And saying it so that I can hear it makes me smile each time it is said.

I am an old fogey in some ways. I do agree that I should say "I love you" every day. Lis smiles every time I do and becomes 'putty in my hands'. I thank you for your comment, and Lis will too when she reads the poem and its comments.

-
I hope Liz is smiling

Is this a form poem? If so...what? as the structure is new to me. Pass on your studies mate
I like!
Linda

This is not a form poem, its an invention. You would not want my studies anyway. I'm glad you like it, thrilled in fact. And no, Lis isn't smiling yet, she hasn't seen this poem.
