I Was Only Four

I laughed I played as I walked behind my mom that day
There was a bang I close my eyes held tightly my moms hand
I consoled my innocent heart  ‘its ok mom is by my side’
Opened my eyes found her hand in mine from her scattered body apart

4 years old frightened weak all alone
Would I live to go on or get hit by a bullet and be gone?
My mother told me stories of wonderful places to be explored
But she is gone how would I live on! You took my life and I was only 4

Through war you hope to attain world peace
Imposed power and you expect friendship
Bombs are dropped on harmless souls
Over weeping hearts you declare your victory

A mind consumed with power a soul filled with darkness
You lead this world to obliteration hatred and inhuman
Those coded secrets you guard while guns are shoot lives are lost
Your deceit continues to grow I lost my life and you have no remorse

Another bomb dropped another mother gone another child stands all alone
You use your power in vein why do you bring upon us destruction and pain
Freedom of speech freedom of right you all preach with such delight
You took away my right to live in return you say I was a sacrifice for the greater gain

I was only 4 and I am gone, I don’t know much but I do know this all
Through war peace never comes through hate love is never gained
Lets all take a new beginning let me be the one to start
I forgive you for taking my life and blowing my mom apart

You have power don’t let it waste, arrogance is not pride it is a selfish disguise
You all please unite bring back freedom peace love and harmony
Be the first to embrace
Through love you will gain victory not pain
