Asphyxiating on Promises born of Regret

Missing image

asphyxiating on your poetry,
your ink stains my heart,
tricks it into believing your verses,
melodramatic melodies sway me your way,
I'm giving myself away too easily, but how do I stop it?

asphyxiating on your love,
I am at a stop-loss and there is no turning back

all of your promises have pooled,
and I'm teetering at the edge with no life guard for safety

can I trust you? It is all I need, but will surely be my death

Ah the question of trust. Too often one person abuses your trust and then you have a hard time trusting someone else. The trick is finding a way to be fairly open without "giving yourself away too easily." Anyhow...It was a good poem. I love the word. Keep up the good work.

Swayed by the words that move us, wanting to believe them to be true. Some are, certainly, if one tries for autobiograpoetry(I made up a new word just for you) but sometimes you have to wonder about the person behind the words. Sometimes, you can certainly feel the closeness like what was written poured straight from their heart and other times there is a certain hesitation, like a cold distance... a separation. Could all just be differing styles. but do we ever really know unless we know someone?

Wow! This is deep, and many probably can relate to a similar feeling. I especially love the last line. Great job! Blessings, Patty

I love how the poem leaves you hanging instead of ending with a set explaniation, the thoughts of trusting another with anything is hard, with ones heart is harder still espically if its been broken before great work
