Wanting More

Of every day I draw a breath,
is one step closer to my death.
Thoughts of the change I'd bring,
but, I've never risk to do a thing.

Waiting for my ship to roll by,
I hold on and wait my turn to fly.
Knowing there is more out there,
Come on, I just--want my share!

Yet, opportunity, will not knock,
when obstacles are built to block
me out from my worldly desires.
Nothings left here--my life in fire.

Burning away the endless pain,
I move along--yet it is in vain.
Give me a chance, for me to show
there is more to me, you should know.

Folks seem happy with what they got.
More out of life, I'm not asking a lot.
Stuck in this God forsaken town,
any longer I'm going to drown.

"Burning bridges a must" I say,
it is time--I find my own way.
Letting you go, to fall behind
it's your life that remains--blind.

Unable to see the future's light
shining like a beacon in the night.
I hear it calling out my name;
there nothing is the same.

Good-bye to a life held in the past.
If I were to stay, I could never last.

    Thank you for your entry

I think we all have those situations where we need to walk away to keep our sanity and I am facing one such situation as it is now. Only problem is it is not only me that needs to walk away. My daughter is in it too. I need to leave for mine and her's sanity and safety, not from a boyfriend or husband, but a relationship just as destructive and violent. Oh why do things have to be so complicated.

I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.

    God Bless
    Tammy
