Nor'easter

Lighthouse beacon capture vicious seas,
ocean draws breakwaters to cascade on walls.
Flooding on boardwalk, as wind twist over tree.

Town losses climb, prayers no longer silent pleas,
winds tear at structures, building sway and fall.
Lighthouse beacon capture vicious seas.

Nature gives escape a chance few can seize,
thoughts shaken to the core in building tall,
flooding on boardwalk, as wind twist over tree.

Lighting flashing as wind tears off the marquee,
stores tie down for nor'easter time seems to crawl.
Lighthouse beacon capture vicious seas.

Street light flicker as homes beaten by debris,
storm force beyond recall of what would be a squall.
Flooding on boardwalk, as wind twist over tree.

Black night, windows tremble in natures frenzied breeze;
nature stirs memories to relive the collapse of town hall.
Lighthouse beacon capture vicious seas,
flooding on boardwalk, as wind twist over tree.

Thank you for this wonderful villanelle. Since I live in California I have never experienced this type of storm, but your imagery was so vivid that I felt the fury of the winds and the power of the rains. There were a couple of spots where the grammar was a little shaky, but overall a very nice poem. Peace, Liz
