Gaping chocolate browns
open to all of life’s possibilities
observe more than any eyes should
capturing stills for memories of a horror movie
in a world far from blameless
mouth forms words of caution
but sound is absent when fear exists
her mother collapsing where she stood
another notch to the belt
of Militia mayhem

far too often such stilled life disrupts the innocence of a life just begun, creating
a permanent scar in their hopes and dreams forever. Some fall into amnesia of the event which is a blessing, while others cower in fear whenever footfalls are heard, I once had to arrest a man who brutally beat his wife, and raped his 5 year old daughter, aside from her tears her face also carried this three mile stare. I only wish he had pulled a gun on me, so that I could cleanse the world of one more maggot....but not in front of her of course....her horror was alreadt tantamount to insanity. great write...haunting and far too common...Artis

i am in awe of this poem...
all the feelings you have expressed in such few lines is amazing.
The word choice is superb, and the imagery and metaphors are breathtaking...
i love the title of this piece, and how you incorporate it into the poem...
the whole innocence lost thing is very sad, but beautiful.
i really can't find anything to point out here... so, very well done!
thanks for entering, and good luck!
