how there life is so dedicated to all indeed .
It's a lonesome job and some see not the work they do,
but everyday they leave their homes to make deliveries to you.
If life were measured by miles I have lives beyond my time,
a man of love and commitment getting little appreciation down the line .
Raised a family and never fussed a day in my life,
for their were more important things to care for my family my wife.
Oh the days alone in that old truck such memories I could hear,
and often was disappointed for I wasn't able to stay near.
Listening to those old country songs often brought a tear to my eyes,
then I heard a whisper on one lonely night.
Son it's time to go home,
for this is your last run.
From this day on you drive for me,
across the skies and over the seas.
As though this old truck was lifted and headed for the skies,
I thought of my family with tears welled up in my eyes.
Why must we go alone I asked why must we leave them behind,
and gently their was a hand rest upon my shoulder and I heard him reply.
Life is like a truckers run we each have our moment in the sun,
A plan of the trail we each are given so unique is that one.
To bring to this world our own special love ,
and to bring others to believe in heaven above.
Son you have blessed many with your knowledge and love,
and on this day you have earned your wings from up above.
You will forever see all your family each and every day,
and at times your love they will see such love you will display.
For life eternal is a promise of the Lord so given you see,
they will see your smile your look return in your children indeed .
They will know as they look into the mirror how you are there within their eyes,
it's a gift we all shall share bye and bye.
Author notes
If we could all know of the blessings one receives at the time of passing we would not fear death but rejoice for the wonders of heaven is more than our minds here on earth can grasp . He will be with you always and if you stay in tune to his spirit he shall show you many things about you as gifts he is giveing to those aware . Our truckers in this world has held this country together and there is not one person on this earth that has not been blessed by them dont you think its time we all salute the truckers and give them all the thanks they have so earned indeed

WHAT CAN ONE SAY EXCEPT.......BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
There are so many unsung people in this world who every day make our lives a little easier by what they do. This is a deeply touching tribute and one which we all should take a moment to not only read but also remember with pride.

Excellent
This has truly touched my heart. So full of the wisdom of life...It flows so smooth like a story that we all like to hear, missing not a single utterance. Well done, poet...congrats and best regards!

but then he can stay home for bout a week or a lil more
money tight so he has to keep goin -
This poem is the hardest one I've read so far, it explains my daddy so well.
When he died, he just finished unloading his truck, he was on his way home when stopping to take a nap. They found him sitting at the bed, ready to slip under the blanket.
They say his face was so peacefull, no sorrow or pain was shown. His book he always read was lying open by his side.
I wish he would return to us soon, hopefully he will come by the end of this week, so that we all can get closure.
Thank you so much for taking your time to write this, you did a wonderful job and I will keep this poem close to my heart always.
Many blessings Merosa Devill

This is so heart felt, I liked each and every line. Only thing is sometimes you use 'thier' where you should write 'there' is this some how meant to be or just a cuincidence (wrong spelling).
Good luck in the contest.
