If I could tell you
Just one thing
I would keep it to my self
If I could show you
What all of this means
I would show you
The meaning of that one thing
And if I fail to tell you or show you
And if I fail to love you or know you
And if we fall, wings flaming swords ablaze
And if these turn out to be our last days
Would I rather I had spent them alone?
Would you rather I had been your stone
To throw away, and never see again?
But what would you do when
You wanted a friend?
Oh, you would have them
You would have been
Okay then...
But what happens when we're sitting in the dark?
What happens, when Noah fails to build his ark
And our lives, and our times, and our days and our hearts
Are swallowed and beaten, torn apart by the dark?
Then will we come running, running far running fast
Will we cry and tear our shirts, and open up the past
Will we fear, will we tremble, will we hold each other close
Or will we fade in the night, as celestial cosmic ghosts?
And if we only live in memories
A beautiful forest full of ugly trees
How will we grow, and how will we know
What the future holds, and when it's time to go?
But if we forget all that has come before
We raise our ramparts and close the iron door
And we let it pass away, all the mem'ries, all the days
Then nothing but death and tears before us lay...
