Salad

The cultivated woman
at the farmer's market
comes every Saturday
smiles across the table

hands over five dollars
and bunches the basil and mint
into one bundle
promising
(a little too toothily)

They're going to live together.

Author notes

    Interesting combination

Can those two really live together? I'll have to try it out.

    Nice write.

yes, it seemed a little incongruous to me at the time, which is why I found it comical - I was the girl selling the herbs.

You are an observer of the human condition. You see what's going on all around you with rare insight. You then change hats and become the consumate story teller. Bravo!
