A Feather's Lullaby

My body feels heavy, my heart feels weak,
Just thinking about you and it's been skipping beats.
The world is at an end and skies are deep blue,
For the love of my love, and my forever with you.
I will stand at the edge of our Armageddon paradise.

And the day has finally come, My wings are no more.
I haven't touched the water, but I'm drowning on the shore.
The chain that has bound us can not be undone,
My feathers are falling, eclipsed by the sun.
I have held out my hand to capture the red string of fate,
If it's for you then it's never too late.

I will always be waiting, atop the mountain high.
Breathing deep, desperately staring at the sky.

I still find myself gasping, repentant on that shore.
Red rays of light piercing my chest,

You brought me the moon and showed me the stars,
It was my fault for failing to realize that you were never too far.

It was our special place, a secret from the world.
It held all of my memories of a young girl.
The twilight danced around us and we fell into passion,
The cities burned restlessly until all was left ashen.

Waking to the dawn to find you vanished,
Nothing but feathers stained scarlet floating in your wake.
Vision blurred, heart stopped and soul panicked,

Grasping your hand tightly,
And dancing down the shore.

The cities still burn, though an eternity has passed,
Flames dancing swiftly in reflection of the sun.
The red string that binds us has tied it's knots fast,
With your broken lips on mine we have finally become one.

I will never regain my wings, those wings I let you steal from me.
But with the loss of those wings, I let you set me free.
