Empty blank stares captures my glare, before
the blackness of the night, it's here I'm lored.
Inspiration lost in the shadows of the night,
no longer want the fight; a direction of flight.
Escaping from a past that wasn't meant to last,
losing my hidden desires from what I've cast.
Against the wall, not wanting anything at all.
Loneliness creeps in my soul yet, there's no call.
Watching life pass by, through a permanent high.
I'm fine, there is no need for me to reach the sky.
Unseen, never touch by what has been
ignorance of a world unknown, I'm long gone.
Innocent to the ugliness of a Mother's Sin,
it's a life I choose to live, withdrawn
from the reality of the light I once held in.
A glimmer of light shines on what I could've seen,
if I would had just stood a little in between
the darkness and light, willing to risk one sight
of what has been lost in the darkness of the night.
Enlightenment begins to unfold, the things I want to hold,
had I listened just once. to what you had told
me, but I was afraid to learn, knowing I'd get burned
it was said, 'you can't miss what has never been learned.'
Even if it was love I wish to hold, maybe I'm too old
to know the things you want me to behold.
Not death I seek while standing in the dark,
and this life seems hidden away from the cold
you think I am not strong, but weak. I mark
how time marches on I'm never controlled
by a society from which I've disembarked.

Thank you for your entry
Nice job. Good formating, in a couple places you had the wrong verb tenses which was a little offputting. I feel you really took the prompt and worked it well into the poem. Nice rhyme scheme, good flow and rhythm.
I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.
God Bless
Tammy
