Walked under a ladder on my way to work
To believe that superstition I'd be a jerk
Worked all day and came out fine
Going home I whistled and sang, walked a line.
Walked to a theatre to see a show
Went through an alley, shortest way to go
Cat darted across my path quick as spit
Was that cat black? the alley was unlit.
Came to a corner and tripped on the curb
Tore the knee of my pants, felt like a nerd
Further on down the avenue a car opened a door
Walked into it and was knocked to the floor.
Bloodied my nose and it dripped on my shirt
Looked at my hands, all grimey with dirt
Dusted myself off, wiped my nose on a tissue
Me superstitious, that's not even an issue.
Wondering about that cat I stepped in a pothole
My brand new Armani shoes ruined to the sole
Arrived at the theatre looking like a bum
Reached for my wallet, I shouldn't have come.
Cause my wallet was home where I longed to be
Took me a long time and I never did see
But I bet you anything the alley cat was black
Yet I ain't superstitious and that is a fact.

A very witty and humorous poem,
I would say that white cat should be black after the day you had. Must have been Friday the thirteenth? Oh, superstitions can't be real...ah ... knock-on-wood! Ladders around my house are laying on the ground... just in case. Oh, and I have two black cats, they are always crossing my path, but I feed them very well...so they won't trip me. Ah, and the salt...gotta keep it upright,
. Good luck!!! Di

Excellent
I love it. Just simply love it. Wow what a poem. This made me smile and through it all just kept saying "Oh no not another bad thing". I love the ironic twist that the person in the poem had forgotten their wallet and was therefore sunk, as far as a movie is concerned. This is a fabulous poem. Excellent work.
