Only a few times have I been to the sea -
To worship, to feel the warmth of the sun and the spray on my face.
I waken at dawn to the sounds of seabirds -
Eagerly I rush to the incoming waves stretching endlessly,
The sun rising pink and purple, the sea-life awash on the shore...
I roll-up my pajamas and wade into the incoming waves,
Cooled by the evening past but warm with my feeling of LIFE.
I NEVER dance, as I am so encumbered by my past...
But here I dance, feel free, overwhelmed and beyond my shy self.
Only HERE do I find true meaning and a happiness I can hardly bear!
I pick-up shells, I send the creatures back to sea where they belong;
I laugh, I am imbued with joy - a very rare thing for me.
As I am awash in utter awe.
The sight, the sounds, the feel of the ocean at dawn or sunset
Makes me know, without doubt that I am not, have never been, alone.
I am so small, a mere speck in the scheme of things...
I SO want to be one with the ocean again!
My dreams and all of my desires reside within my heart.
My dreams of the sunset and the dawn, the waves rushing past my feet,
The sounds of the seabirds and the waves crashing around me.
Be it known, as all who know me...
When I pass, I will become part of the ocean
Once again - in ashes and in spirit.
I cannot dream of a lovelier place to reside
For eternity!

This is a very powerful write, an engaging experience for the reader. I especially love the lines:
I am so small, a mere speck in the scheme of things...
I SO want to be one with the ocean again!
Beautiful work, Deb.

Thank you, my friend. The ocean is my favorite place and I've mostly been land-bound - it means the world to me when I am there!
