The Bottle Was My Home The Capsuls My Playground

Missing image
So many start out very young today,
watched their parents in how they played.
Often they were so gone they never saw me,
when I would slip a drink here and there blind indeed.

My later years as a teenager had to have it my way,
found my home was in a bottle,
and my playground in capsuls a place to play.
My friends were the kids I grew up with,
and the times were tough .
but the supply was in abundace we couldnt get enough.

Then it's like a light switch was turned off,
it wasnt any fun anymore only I couldnt stop.
My body would get the shakes and my cravings for more
yet when they reached out to me they only got the slamming of the door.
Short on money so I began to steel,
and in time yes I would even deal.

Have you ever woke in an alley with no clothes,
you will if the drugs is the path you chose.
Have you ever threatened your parents to kill them indeed,
for the fire in your eyes cares not but only the need .

Friends disapeared they have troubles of their own,
unless you are carrying the they wont leave you alone.
Your eyes no longer sees love for hate rules your heart,
and you refuse help you wont take part.

Are you ready to live again yet your so afraid,
of the pain within that racks your body every day.
Think about this for you will face it in time,
for the drugs will take your soul and your mind .

If you are ready to live life again,
know you will have a safe home and a bed to sleep in .
Stop the drugs today and know its a choice of life or death,
and know you have been so close to hell you felt the devils breath.

Author notes

Those who has gotten so close to hell they could smell the devils breath would kill anyone anywhere that tries to give them help .For minds on hold in time cant do it alone for their is not one day that goes by when they arent stoned .
pREFERING TO LIVE IN THE ALLEY THAN A LOVING WARM HOME

A perfect look into the life of drugs and alcohol. Your discription is so vivid that it pulls you into it. Hopefully a write that will get others thinking and be a tool for help.

    I think you nailed it.

You've put into precise words what condition druggies are in. By George, she's got it!

I come from a similar place.
I think you could have been much more effective
if you weren't trying to rhyme. Still, this was honest.

This is a very strong and well written piece. There are many powerful messages coming from this. It's unfortunate that life is like this for so many people and getting away from an addiction is an incredibly hard thing to do. Sadly, I can see shadows of myself in this piece.
Great write and thanks for entering.
