An aching pang of helplessness,
A feeling of loneliness and distress,
I don't know how I carry on,
Without your shoulder to lean on.
I never said all I wanted to,
Like just how much I deeply love you,
And now you're gone: now it's too late,
The evil twist of fate.
I'll miss you so much every day,
And everything you did,
In your own sweet way.
But I mustn't cry too much for you,
If you saw me; you'd cry too,
You would want me to be strong,
And do my best to carry on.
For I know this much is true:
"Life's a journey full of twists and turns,
Enjoyment is sweet,
And loss deep burns,
But ever through the mist and fog,
The sun is waiting to be found,
Battle on,
Though sadness and sorrow may you surround."
So goodbye Daddy,
And know this now,
I'll love you always,
As I miss and love you now.

Very sad and nostalgic. A beautiful way to remember someone so close. Excellent writting!

I had to take several breaks when reading this poem, it made me miss him so much but yet it helped me with coping it.
The rhyme gave it a little extra feel to it, but your emotions stands the most out. You penned me a wonderful poem, my dear friend.
Thank you so much for taking your time to comfort me.
