Goodbye is unbearable,
so I leave without any
regrettable exchange of words—
probably best that way.
Thoughts in gray and brown
invade my mind, but I must
spread my hope on a higher plane.
Uplifted by the wind,
my eyes follow the flight
of a single white feather;
the click of my rosary
punctuates my silent journey,
each fingered bead a prayer for justice.

The imagery of this piece has hidden depth. You take the reader on an emotional journey, yet leave them with a sense of faith of rightness prevailing.
