A Return To Perfection?

Tucked between the
Tigris and Euphrates,
lies a coveted sanctuary.

Nearing the end of my days,
I look back cross the portals
of time, quietly remembering.

Eden, that blessed respite, in
my memory of long ago. For now
alone, my light grows dim.

My heart weakens, I sleep often.
As I do, I dream of a land
pristine and unblemished.

Lush foliage, hanging in
woven canopies. Scents of
tropical blossoms permeate.

Luscious fruit hanging seductively,
craving, an allure of touch. Each
longing to be caressed by the mouth.

Lustrous ribbons of crystal blues
caper, gurgling, lauging like children
dancing beneath a benevolent summer sun.

Their songs lift into a cerulean sky,
clear voices mingle, in harmony with
the rejoicing notes of an avian choir.

Oh the immortal strains bursting
forth onto a doe eyed consciousness
deep in death’s semblance, at rest.

Even now I hear Eden speaking…

"I ponder your life,
son of my heart,
such difficulties you've faced.

Perhaps it's time for you
to return to my embrace,
let me hold you for eternity.

Never again will the toils of life
burden your spirit,
safe you will remain in my garden."

Author notes

We used the third prompt, that being the words Unblemished.

      What Kind Words,

you have left behind. Speaking for Luck and myself, we are grateful that you found such pleasure in the offering.

Only if it were so simple to return to such a storied place and existance. May you find continued success in your own poetic endeavors. May your dreams be stepping stones along your path of reality.

      Blessings to you

this one is a very thoughtful kind of write that I really enjoyed reading. Truly, many have their hearts set to the reward of living in Eden again, that is, if faith is with it...
