Rebirth

Hiding those faults,
Those failed attempts.
Wanting a claim on purity,
Things that one can never have.
At least someone like him,
A sinner.

Stealing what mattered,
Cheating his way out of lifes trials.
Scavanging on the hopes of others,
Leaving behind those he has broken.
Wanting to make peace,
That will never come,
To a sinner.

Fighting for all the wrong reasons,
Binding the lives of those that trusted.
Killing the hopes of his followers,
With each passing sun.
Making himself the masochist of pain,
Writhing in the agonizing guilt,
The sinner.

Staking his claim that he was pure,
That all was calm and well.
Deceiving the easily swayed with guilt,
Into his dark grip.
Wishing to make this torture ease,
Counting on God's strike to take him away,
Sinner was his only way.

As they chased him away,
Sadness and Anger in their eyes.
He saw for the first time,
The love that he wanted to kill him.
To take away his evil compulsion.
To free him to release,
From his binding course.
The sinner becoming the saint.

As he lay in the wood,
Wasting away in all misery.
A light shone,
On just him for the very first time.
He screamed above for the freedom,
And this time it was granted.
The sinner had been forgiven,
He now was a saint.

No more the sinner,
He lives now in hope.
Passing his given gratitude,
To those that need a beginning.
Showing that no matter the reason,
All can be forgiven,
and be transformed.....

Sinner to Saint.

Author notes

This is my first "spiritual" poem that I have written. I just felt rather inspired by this contest. Hope you enjoy.
