Unconditional Love

There’s just no one
I’d rather be with—than you.
And though I may not say it
In so many words,
You’re very important to me,
And I appreciate you.
I appreciate you and—deeply love you.
And the greatest gift I have to give to you—
Is my love.
I love you,
Because you’re real to me.
And I’m not afraid to be myself
When I’m with you.

Because you really care about me.
You care about my growth,
My happiness
And my well-being.
You not only tell me of your love,
But you show me your love
In many little ways.
The way you lightly squeeze my hand
When you sense I’m a little unsure of myself
And need confidence,
Or the way you really listen—
To what I have to say.
You don’t just listen to my words,
But you hear my feelings
Behind the words.
You show me your love
In the many brief conversations we have,
And all the little hugs and kisses
You give me throughout the day.
Our love is a growing love,
And we define it as we go along
Through all the tears of joy,
And all the tears of sorrow.
You’re not just a sometimes lover,
Loving me only when it feels good
Or is convenient to you.
But, a constant lover,
Staying by me,
And loving me,
Even when the going—
Is a little rough.
Our kind of love
Is the kind of love
That never fades away.
But always expands
With each new discovery
Of who we are,
And the promises
Of who we can become.
My life with you has been
So enriched by your love.
And because of your love,
I never feel alone.
And as the sun begins
To drop out of the sky,
And daylight slowly disappears—
Marking the end of our day,
There’s no more reassurance of your love
Than when you lie beside me,
Snuggle up—
And curl yourself around me
As you tenderly whisper in my ear,
