Rain's Remnants

Ah, the freshness of the rain,
as if purifying the earth with its gift;
the aftermath of storm's fury
leaving blue skies, rainbows and growth.

Sitting on the veranda smelling that scent
feeling the coolness of the breeze;
hearing the birds chirping, the bees buzzing
while flowers drip drops of wetness to the ground.

Nourishing the soil, helping plants shoot up
reaching so high, getting greener;
puddles for kids to splash in, fill rubber boots
as I enjoy the remnants of the rain today.

    I'm a big kid as I still splash in puddles(lol). I totally agree with your author's notes. Beautiful entry. Thank you for taking the time to enter "Do You Truly Love The Rain?" contest.

    A delightful relaxation in nature's rainy aftermath. Couple of thoughts, birds chirping, bees buzzing is perhaps a little vin ordinaire when set against the rest of your poem. It seems to me that the full stop (period) after "to the ground" destroys the sense of the following words which appear to need the first line of the second verse for completion....so: "Sitting on the veranda.......as I enjoy the remnants..." I liked this poem.

    I can hear the last drippings of a rainy day in your words and feel the clearness in the air.
