Trapped, the walls are closing in
I fail to see the door;
too blinded by emotion
to find what I search for.
The metal, it gleams, so perfect,
it promises my release.
It splinters while it soothes me;
it's temporary peace.
Numbed, I look around me,
my thoughts no longer hurt,
the walls are at a standstill,
the metal turns to dirt.
My lies--my dreams--are with me,
the fondle a fragile mind.
They comfortably contort me;
I leave my search behind.
Aimlessly I wander
a stranger finds me at last
reflects my pain upon me
-a mirror to my past.
My cycle, my pattern, is broken
a frantic panic pursues.
A mirror, a murder, a savior
lies broken at my shoes.
Author notes
Not sure about the repetition in the last stanza, and the rhythm is choppy at some points.
