She will rest for many weeks,
in her soft cocoon
Slowly evolving until the day,
of the third full moon
Her chrysalis will keep her warm,
soaking in the sun
Safely she will lie in wait,
until the change is done
For fifteen years she’s been a girl,
what difference can she see
When she awakes her life will change,
for a woman she will be
Her heart and mind will be anew,
and love may fill her soul
The lies and games from boys to men,
might take a dreadful toll
No longer can she just smile and wait;
now time has joined her plight
Restraint by her must be exercised,
almost each and every night
Though she wishes to love a man,
can she find one true and pure
For she has seen what men can do,
what her mother did endure
She knows of one his heart is good,
with him; her life she could share
But he has not yet turned a man,
and of that she must beware
He will rest for many weeks,
in his soft cocoon
