Isabella Manor

Missing image

Some believe that houses are haunted by ghosts or other supernatural beings. But why would ghosts choose to linger only around certain houses, mansions, castles, etc… Perhaps it’s the house itself. The house itself could be alive and only resting until someone enters to wake it up. This could explain the disappearances and other phenomena hovering within the walls of Isabella Manor.

.

A wealthy businessman, Charles Cunningham, married Isabella Manchester in 1907. He had a mansion built that was to be finished by their wedding date. Hence, Cunningham named the mansion Isabella in honour of his newly beloved wife. He was an abusive man that kept Isabella a prisoner within her own home. Rumours has it that Charles Cunningham killed his wife and hung himself in 1930. Or did he? Many mysteries started well before the newlyweds entered the dwelling.

.

While the mansion was under construction, five men were killed. Two died when a wall of concrete and bricks collapsed on them. Another died as a result of a fall from the towering rooftop. A fourth man died in a bizarre incident in the Sanctum, a room surrounded by glass and filled with blooming flowers.  Whilst placing a statue of Isabella in the middle of the Sanctum, glass shattered above and decapitated the worker. The fifth death occurred in the Master Bedroom the day before the wedding. A man was found dead, eyes wide open, laying on the floor. They ruled the death as a heart attack. Or was this just the beginning of the manor claiming yet another victim.

.

There are other peculiar happenings associated with Isabelle Manor. Charles and Isabella hired the following three males: A gardener, a butler, and a chef. They also hired two females to help as servants and to keep the mansion clean. The Cunningham family hosted many elaborate parties to show off their wealth. In 1930, when Charles was found hanging from the laboratory tower, the other male servants were found dead as well. The gardener found dead lying at the foot of the Isabella statue in the Sanctum. The cause of death was unknown. The butler died from a bullet wound in the head in the library. Lastly, the chef lay dead in the kitchen with a knife in his back. Aye, but what about the females.

.

Charles and Isabelle had a daughter, Samantha.  All the females except Isabella simply vanished and was never to be seen again. These mysteries have never been solved.  Isabella was found at the bottom of the staircase with a broken neck. Some believe that the females, including Samantha fled the manor without harm and lived a secreted life. Others believe that the females still remain as ghosts within the hallways of Isabella Manor. Several historians and paranormal professors entered the home in 1979 and was never to be heard from again.

 .

Did the ghosts of Charles, Isabella, or Samantha claim the lives? Some speculate that Isabella Manor came alive when the people entered the mysterious dwelling and the house itself engulfed the souls. Apparently, anyone may check into Isabella Manor at any time they want but they can never leave.

Of course this is just fiction.  All the names are fiction as well. The picture is that of the "Haunted Mansion" in Disney World [Florida]
My attempt at a weird horror story
JeannieD, I hope you like it. I know it is long. I tried to hold the attention of the reader the best that I could. This is all new for me.

Inspired in part by the book and movie "Rose Red" by Stephen King and the final line was inspired by the hit song "Hotel California" by the Eagles
