I've lived in this forever after land long enough
shifting sands don't scare me
pirates and beasts stop
nod politely
before they resume their chase
most days I can even
predict tides
it's easy once you learn
to read the moon
the colors had to be desaturated
but it's done now
and the landscape looks
almost serene
unless you happen to pass by
at an hour or two past midnight
then it's not pretty
but I'm working on that
so don't drop by
ask curious questions
like how's life
make small talk
I'll have to start all over again
and who knows how long it'll take me
this time around

You have taken a picture and you have created a very unique response to it -- you have written something out of the ordinary. Strangely sad and whimsical at the same time. Interesting mix.
Good luck in the contest.
