Trailing the Wake of Your Beating Heart

You gave me the world, sparked in flames
that night I felt my life restart;
when tender words burnt gentle to my soul
trailing the wake of your beating heart.

Your light encased the once held darkness
that surrounded me deeply from within.
Trailing the wake of your beating heart,
granting wishes to once again, begin.

Butterflies dance through my existence,
trailing the wake of your beating heart;
for the greatest gift I could ever know
is the love enflamed from that one spark.

Trailing the wake of your beating heart,
to follow your luminescence forever more;
that always, I'll give my love to you
from glowing embers that I adore.

Author notes

"You gave me the world, sparked in flames..."
A line that will more than likely be understood by only one, as intended. At least in it's personal sense.
Those flames were the biggest surprise I ever saw, but something I had hoped for for quite a while. The embers remain aglow in my heart, which I wish to keep burning for eternity. ♥

    Most Impressive

    Truly remarkable, truly intense. I love the the way the fiery images are used to reflect and emphasize passion.
    What's also interesting is the way you changed the position of line that says "Trailing the wake of your beating heart" in each stanza; moving it from line 4 in stanza 1, to line 3 in stanza 2, and so on. Really Beautiful Work. Good luck in the contest.
