Shelby's Dolls: A Twisted Realm in the Mall

Lindsay shopped at the mall all the time, usually with her friends.  It didn't matter whether she bought anything she just loved going to each of the shops and seeing what was new.

One day she recieved a secret letter addressed for her eyes only, as she read the letter she became estatic. It told of many wonderous things that can be found within the mall after hours and that she was noticed as one of the few who frequent the mall so much. It told her to go to the mall alone tomarrow, wait until five minutes before closing and sneak into the broom closet by Shelby's Dolls, wait another 10 minutes or until she heard the gates close and then come out, and she could witness the wonders herself.

So of course the next day she put on her wrist watch and left for the mall around eight. When she heard the anouncement over the intercom warning of the mall closing in five mintutes she slid into the broom closet as she was told. She heard the lights shut down and gates close as the last two people closed up and left.

When she was sure it had been long enough she slowly opened the door, expecting to see things all aglow and beautiful knick knacks all around but instead the place was picth dark with the only light illuminating the walls from the moon outside.

Lindsay looked throughout the mall for anything out of the ordinary but when she couldn't find anything her hopes died and she made her way back for the door only to find that she was locked in, trapped in the mall.

She decided to try and make the best of it and when it was near time to open she'd sneak back into the closet and then just slid her way into the crowd in the morning, but she soon found all the shops were closed.

With nowhere to go and nothing to do she slid down the one of the doors and it opened, Lindsay looked up to see the sign SHELBY'S DOLLS above her head.

"Great of all the places to be open..." Lindsay said as she went in. Shelby's Dolls always gave her the creeps, they just looked too realistic.

As she walked down the aisles she was chilled to the bone, some of the dolls looked sad, some unaware, others vengeful but all the dolls seemed to follow her with their eyes.

In the back room she noticed a lever like switch on the wall, hoping it was to the front gate she hit the switch. It opened a trapped door in the corner of the room and inside was a swirling green and red light.

"Hey maybe this is what that letter was talking about." Lindsay thought as she jumped in...

Once inside, the portal dissapeared, she was in a void as dark as night. As her eyes adjusted to what dim light was there she let out a bloodcurdling scream.

She was standing in a river of bloody body parts, arms, legs, eyes, tongues, and all kinds of other organs were all around her and with the smallest movement she could hear the squishing of them as they moved too.

As she was screaming she was knocked unconcious, when she awoke she was buckled to a chair coated in blood, both fresh and old. She was crying but could do nothing with her hands, feet, head, and mouth buckled shut.

Suddenely an old hunched lady came out of the shadows, laughing...

"You young girls are so easy to trick, even my own daughter..." said the lady, unbuckling the girls mouth.

"What do you mean by that?" Asked Lindsay, even more confused.

"My daughter Shelby always loved dolls, she was always wanting a "new addition" to her familyno matter how many I bought her, so one day I promised her if she ever got 100 dolls then they'd let her live among them, heh heh"

"How could you tell your own daughter such a lie and what does that have to do with me?" asked Lindsay, not thinking.

"Who said it was a lie...it was far from it...Shelby does now reside with her dolls or should I say the other stupid teenagers of this town, now enough talk, it's time for you to join them..." Said the lady

Before Lindsay could say anything the woman had buckled her mouth back up and injected a needle full of liquid plastic into her body.

The next day Lindsay's frineds Sarah and Ashley came to the mall.

"Do you think she's here?" asked Ashley

"I don't know you go look for her I'll meet you at the fountain, my mom made me promise to buy my little sister a new doll...as if she don't have enough." said Sarah.

Sarah walked into Shelby's Dolls and up to an old hunched lady at the counter...

"Back again this is the third time this week." said the lady to Sarah

"Yeah well my little sister gets bored real quick...you have any new dolls?" asked Sarah kinda in a hurry.

"No I'm afraid not......oh wait it just so happens I got a new doll last night, it's a steal at only $15.00"

"Alright whatever I'll take it...my sister is gonna owe me big for this." Sarah said the last bit under her breath as the lady was in the back getting the doll.

She handed her a doll she didn't even look at as she rushed to the fountain.

"Did you find her?" asked Sarah as she reached Ashley

"No luck" Ashley said as she noticed the doll, "...What is that?"

Ashley lifted the box up to see it better.

"It's just a stupid doll from Shelby's." answered Sarah.

"Look again" said Ashley, with fear in her voice.

They both looked at the doll. The Box labeled the doll as LINDSAY and it was wearing the same outfit in the same style as their friend...

Author notes

I hope this is ok and not too short (I don't care for the ending but I did this on the spur of the moment and couldn't think anymore sorry), also sorry about the punctuation I never learned how to do that right :/

Very cool idea and storyline. It is dark and suspenseful. I think you did a great job. I have always been a little leery of dolls, lol. Thanks for entering and good luck!
