I had some idea what the weatherman meant about going outside
He said beware “Black Ice”; if you go out walk, don’t ride
Well I was fairly young and decided I just had to go
Opened the door, the ground looked a little wet, but no snow
The railing was a little icy but still I had no fear in me
There was no school that day and I had the world to see
Now I have to tell you there were five steps to get down
Before you reach the cemented sidewalk and they were round
I step down on the first step and that’s all I needed to do
My feet slipped from under me and I lost my right shoe
I then bumped on my butt the remainder of the way
Didn’t stop there, slid all the way to the curb that day
The entire ground was covered with ice clear as glass
Needless to say I was embarrassed and hurt my a_____
Slipping and sliding I just could not get to my feet
But I didn’t give in no I wasn’t about to bow in defeat
I crawled on hands and knees back to the steps
Grabbed onto the rail because it wasn’t over yet
I crawled all the way up the stairs, I reached the door
Crawled into the house didn’t leave again for a day or more
I was so thankful that it was early and no one saw me
Of course with my kind of luck that was not to be
The boy down the street who I was deeply in lust with
Was the first person I saw and he had a smile on his lips
He had seen the entire humiliating panorama of events
We never did date but he had that smile for me every since
In my mind I could imagine him snickering inside his head
He hadn’t tried to help, that killed my lust stone dead
I’ll never forget that day when I looked like a circus clown
Sometimes even today it still hurts if I flop right down
Weather people are wrong a lot, but sometimes very right
It could have been much worse and changed my whole life
