Volunteer Marigold

Volunteer,

Marigold.

It was not planted

was not loved

and yet in ground it flourished.

Breaking earth, surviving tangle,

depending upon heaven’s rain

the tender root

held fast and deep.

Marigold

Volunteer.

Author notes

The inspiration for this piece is a little Marigold I saw at work the other day. Deeper shades of meaning I see as well.

    Love it

So much meaning in this poem. To me unexpected beauty can appear out of the blue. This work can be interpreted in so many ways. I love its simplicity too! I'm still having a rough time getting over the loss of my youngest brother that I cared for until he passed . Maybe I would cope better if some poetry would flow out again. Thanks for all your support you have given me!
