Hope is a waking dream,
stretching your arms
to embrace the new day.
Shaking off the
illusions of night,
wiping the dirt
of sleep from clouded eye,
and rising with
possibilities for change.
One can see such hope
in the gaze of pure innocence,
that lingers for only a short time
in the eyes of a newborn.
Entire worlds gleam there,
so quickly erased
by the oppression of life.
We must emerge
much like an infant
from the pain of the days before,
refreshed by the hours of calming rest,
and begin anew.
Shaking off the past,
to claim the present of today,
which is a gift.
Suckling the pacifier
of tomorrow
for there will always
be a brighter future
when we wake
with dreams of hope.
