Gone is the memory of a laugh,
gone is the memory of a smile.
So far left behind is she,
Life's forgotten child.
She was nothing more than a ghost,
left forgotten, simply to rot.
Wrapped in grey, cold and lost,
loneliness was all she ever got.
She doesn't remember the taste of friendship,
nor the smell of family hovering in the air
Once on her way to nirvana,
she won't ever get there.
Once a girl of happiness and laughter,
once so full of light,
the darkness came and stole that away,
and she'll never get it back, try as she might.
Covered by a simple mask,
there's nothing like the feeling of being left behind.
No longer seen, no longer noticed,
she's alone, the only one of her kind.
No one left alive to remember her-
after all, her life's just a piece of shit.
There's nothing she can really do,
but sit there and learn to deal with it.
For just a simple color is now left to be seen-
grey was all the world ever brought.
Drowning in a sea of nothingness,
she was the girl the world forgot.

Thanks for the opportunity! I hope you liked it and that the rhyming was good enough! ^_^

i'm glad you liked it! i tried hard to make it so other people could understand and be able to feel like they are that person, so i'm glad it worked! haha it seems a lot of people are relating to this easily. lol thanks a whole bunch!
and i love the not-so-stealthy introduction of yourself in my comment. haha i'm Mac or Maccie (it's short for Mackenzie, which people tend to find too long, hence the nicknames hahaha)

I love that. It's so sad, but I like the way you describe what it's like to course through life being invisible...
"She doesn't remember the taste of friendship,
nor the smell of family hovering in the air
Once on her way to nirvana,
she won't ever get there."
I love this stanza the most. :] It's so hopeless and drawn... I like it
Your portrayal of such a miserable life was done brilliantly. Great job!
Good luck in the contest.

beautiful,
Liked it? Loved it. This was a beautiful poem!! Thanks so much for entering; the rhyming was good, really, a little forced ( I felt) in the fourth stanza, but the rest of it was brilliant. Beautiful work; a wonderful read.
Good luck, keep writing.
