A poem begins with a lump in the throat,
Enough emotion to let you know you're human.
Though not enough to let that emotion
Come cascading forth, to knock you off your feet.
A poem might end with a tear in the eye,
As you realise you've just said all
That your voice couldn't say
And released many feelings
That you did dismay.
Poems help to remember,
Help to forget,
Help to remind you- it's not over yet.
You're still here, you're a writer,
Use your gift well,
You feel strong emotions
So use them now.
