Electricity

It was a dark night
At least as dark as it could be
And 'twas quite scary
  For there was no electricity

Tonight, she lies alone in bed
Whimpering soft melodies
To chase glimmering tears away
Beneath cotton bedsheets and soft comforter
For she's such a cute girl
Still afraid without her night-light

Oh, but little does she know
Any second, she'll feel safe, once more
A brave knight is off to rescue his princess
For daddy's rushing to the door

With a fearful creak, she hides herself
Who could it be, she wonders
He enters in, a shadow in the night
But she's still under soft covers

The stranger closes in, she's so afraid
She sweating, but, oh, she'll be surprised
When daddy sits on the edge of her bed
And she sees him with scared eyes

A smile on her once fearful face
She jumps up, grasping him
He returns the happy face to her
He's glad to see she'll be fine
It's alright, he tells her
And she's inclined to trust his every word
On this dark night, as dark can be
Until comes on, electricity

Author notes

Well, I'm really experimental right now. I think I'm tired of dark/shock/adult-type poems for awhile, and I want to try to write stuff that people can just enjoy. No hidden-double meanings, no murdering people with harsh criticisms against society. I want to write pleasant little things for the moment. Who knows if this will be the last of these, but I'm sure my dirty mouth will come back to haunt me.

For now, though, there's a happy little girl spending a moment with her father. That is something that I wish I could have seen growing up.

Maybe you should replace inclined with another word . . . so the poem can keep the soft/happy mood, I don't know, to me it seemed that a "big" word didn't do much good to it,but then again..that is just me. Besides that is really good that you are experimenting, who knows maybe it will last, hopefully, but so far you've done good. I felt as if I was the little girl,it brought back some sweet memories. Really good work, even if you don't think so.
