Always Remembered

Sitting near the memorial of the four,
Quiet and peaceful
Book in hand.
One lot over is where they died,
Shot down in the midst of a protest.
Thirty-eight years,
Yet it’s still an important matter in history,
Here you must know about it,
It’s a part of the history.
High school may not have mentioned it,
But here, it’s a part of the school.
You can’t help past the spot or maybe the memorial
Right by a lot of the dorms and even some class buildings
You’ll see it.
I don’t know who they were
But someone out there did.
Maybe I would have barely thought about this if I weren’t here
If this weren’t my school,
It might just be another page in the history book,
But this is my school,
Which makes it a part of my history.
I wasn’t alive then
Wouldn’t be for nineteen more years,
But now I am alive
And when May fourth rolls around
I’ll remember what I know about that day in history.
Because those students were members of my school,
They were Golden Flashes
And they won’t be forgotten.

Author notes

Very interesting and a great tribute to these
lost souls. Such a terrible way for them to have
died. Thanks for posting this one!

I like this. I think it's cool that you didn't even know the four people killed yet you still wrote a tribute to them. Good job!
