Chitter-Chatter -- A "quickie" Picture Prompt Contest Entry

Chitter-Chatter,
Chitter-Chatter,
oh, what's the matter?

Chitter-Chatter,
Chitter-Chatter,
Says the neighbor,
next tree over.
Cold and windy,
snow's everywhere.
No acorns,
no seeds,
no kids.

Chitter-Chatter,
Chitter-Chatter,
Down to the ground,
to forage around.
Neighbors out, too,
tracks in the snow.
It's a bobcat or bear,
maybe a coyote.
Better run,
better run.
no seeds today!

It's a grey, grey
world out there,
much like my hair.
Birds, alive,
they can strive,
for seeds, weeds,
and things.
Will I starve?
Can I survive?
Chitter-Chatter,
Chitter-Chatter.

    Wonderful, auditive poem ...

and yes, you used all the sounds to make this little poem a wondrous experience: assonance, consonance, alliteration, onomatopoeia ...

I also loved the personification, and the poet's own interwoven presence.

About the presentation: the vertical typography imitates the form of a slender, leafless winter tree: stripped and silhouetted. The short line breaks also added to the motion: the fast movements of the squirrel.

    So very well done.

Thank you for reading my poetry. I truly appreciate it.

    Regards
    Myra
