I have yet seen the ferryman's raft
To cross the dark river,
A shade so crept a thousand times
and made my heart so leap!
In quivers, that run down my spine
A sigh escapes my soul,
To venture out a thousand years
And pass before the fold
Yet leave undone, unsaid, too late,
There is but no return.
Let me know How this makes you feel, what do you think?

I do like the mood and intensity of this piece. The imagery really suits the sensation of darkness and an ending. Great use of language, imagery is so evocative and the tripling in the penultimate line is particularly effective. Thanks for sharing, this is an excellent write.

There is but no return.' this was my fave line and this poem was beautifully written! xx

You pen in the dark genre well. This piece is emotional, in depth and flows with a wonderful meter.
Well Done!

Missed opportunities of evading darkening shadows that negate the spirit heard. In antisapation of some foreboding gloom of doom.Careful! Your darkside is showing and Halloween's bewithchment is just around the corner.
