Most people thinks it's easy and if so it's untrue,
for they always mess up all that you do.
No one says thank-you and some even fuss,
it's enough for a housewife to flip out and cuss.
Phone ringing doorbell ringing and the children riding on my legs,
husband not helping just laid back like a king on display.
Food burning washer jumping and the toilets coming down the hall,
it's enough for an every day housewife to bounce off the walls.
Children fighting Mama he is looking at me again,
a motherinlaw that stands on the side line refusing to help with an evil grin.
Appointments often leaving the house wearing two colors of shoes,
or a blouse wrong side out in a rush causes a muse.
Dogs running through the house and mud everywhere,
he jumps up on the couch and is on a tare.
I take after him with a broom and stumble and fall,
and the kids pile up on top of me giggling so play-full after all.
Days where the bathroom gives you a second of peace,
only the kids banging on the door and screaming mommy please.
As the day begins to set and bath time rolls around,
we take turns and each one becomes a battle ground.
Finally everyone is in bed,
I look like the wreck of the Hesperus and too near dead.
Run me a bath and find heaven in a 4 x8 room,
when the husband comes in doing what he so much likes to do.
When a look comes across her face a look of beware,
he stands there with a silly grin and she holds her stare.
As he backs back out of the door and finds his way to bed,
she sigh-es a sigh of relief and says a prayer and relaxes instead .
Author notes

I laughed at this one alot. It is very well done. When I hear someone say I am a housewife, and the response is "so you don't work?" I laugh. They are clueless about the work of a housewife and equally clueless to the fact that they are near death.

Great job, Patty.

I don't plan on having children myself but I respect anybody who can raise even just one, let alone eight! Thats more than a couple handfuls. Enjoyed this poem very much, the rhyme could use just a little work in places to make it flow more smoothly but overall a great piece.
