Pandora and You

The ecstacy of gold pours into my head
Over the tired souls I use to go
From place to place almost untraceably
My shores heave treasures from forgotten seas
In case a face to face is not in store for me
Imploring me to reprieve thee
While spreading secrets of happiness
That none choose to believe
While shedding topsy turvy unnerving plagarism
That some lose to receive
Gumshoes are footloose, and our scribes are tongue-tied
Thirteen angels stand round my bed
Whilst I did destroy the light
Fervor waits and reverberates the lips where words fail to express
And text is weighed against the sins
Of sadness, guilt, and regret
The thoughts sometimes reject themselves
Permitting access into ourselves
Though there are few that lower the bucket
Into our underground wells
Afraid to be uncomforted like the children that fell in
Unfortunately, Archimedes has the screw
The times have our strength subdued
Whatever falls to the floor may be impossible to soothe
But one will never know what it feels like to have
Until one knows what it is to lose
But we cannot lose
Until we explore the nature of what it is to have
Your body belongs not to you
Nor does your golden calf
Hidden in the realm of mind
Perfection is within grasp
Laying on the grass staring up into the sky
Holding on to nothing, living until we die
The lament we foment we praise
As sacrosanct
That after effect of the addict's days
Drags us to the bottom of the barrel
Where our ship has sank
While shooting for the stars
And firing blanks at the moon
We are missing bliss with our rifles
From outside, in hindsight, it is a trifle
And a trifle, and a trifle more apparant
To the casual observer
But the casual observer doesn't know how much he hurt her
Or did she hurt herself?
It's in the past,
Now let it rest or you'll have absolutely nothing left
Hard words, at least by appearance
Book covers commit deliberate malfeasance
I can't be this, nor that
And neither can you
Death is the road we all will walk to awe
But it is forever yours to choose
Just what it is you're destined to have
And what you're fated to lose
The trick is this:
To have no doubt
That what is yours lies not without.

God.

Not trying to flow with stanza or verse, but just getting some emotions down on "paper."

By the way..I read this out loud on my second read, it almost sounds like a rap, the rythm is excellent.

You may not be trying to flow but it does, and very well. Its like a very smooth, intelligent rant and I greatly enjoyed it. What initially attracted me was the title, its very provocative and as I read I found more and more truths that clung to my mind and my heart. Two parts that especially captured me :
"Though there are few that lower the bucket
    Into our underground wells"
and "Your body belongs not to you
Nor does your golden calf", both hint at the fact that we often choose not to delve into the deepest, most internal, instictual, truthful parts of us.
Thank you for sharing once again.

    Best wishes

Thank you for reading, Child. And for searching so deeply into the meanings behind the words. Being able to relate something, even if I don't know what exactly I want to relate. Thank you very much!

      Many blessings.
