A cheerful soul in spite of all
That life can throw to bring me down
I rarely let my humour fall
Or let you see me wear a frown
I always try to stay this way
A cheerful soul in spite of all
To brighten up the darkest day
With silly jokes however small
With friends in need I heed the call
To raise a smile on every face
A cheerful soul in spite of all
Is what you need around the place
Some days it takes the best of you
To stand up to the bitter gall
I'll stand the worst that life can do
A cheerful soul in spite of all

Now I'm writing Quaterns?!?!?!
Damnit all I've lost my marbles.

Thank you for your entry
lol, one would think you enjoy my contests and that is why you suffer these forms you would not normally write in lol. I enjoy reading your poetry as well. You always do stellar job with each form. This one is no less. A lighthearted spirit in this poem. You chose to speak of the spirit of good will. Fresh perspective.
The form was right on, the refrain line carried well throughout the poem. They syllable count was exact as usual and I appreciate that you chose to rhyme as I feel the rhyme scheme adds to the rhythm and flow of the poem.
I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.
God Bless

I love your affirmative outlook and your efforts to bolster your friends when they are down. You're only pessimistic about your writing, yet you seem to shine in whatever form you choose. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz

Good to know you
cheerful soul. This is a happy Quatern. Urges courage.
I do believe, that no matter what, you keep your chin up.
[Never lead with same chin; not against Aussie bowlers!]

You are Beautiful!
Christina Aguilera's song comes to me when I read this, "I am beautiful no matter what they say, words cant bring me down". You make me see that aspect of what i call sunshine poetry that i use to write and i would start again.
This is quite personal for me. Love it and thank you.

This is very good! You chose a wonderful repeating line and that's the trick to a Quatern. I think you should write more of them.
Love,

See, there you go... it doesn't take much for your sunny side to start showing again!

Thank God you're not a miserable git. One in the family is enough.
