a cliché connaisseur

It wasn't poetry
pouring from you-

but words drunk off
complimentary confidence,
still rank of an

amateur brewer.

Chardonnay may have been
a drink of choice,
but an inebriated ego
spews verbal vomit
& fermented phrases
sipped from another's glass.

You claim to know fruit,
the taste & texture of
metaphor,
yet you can't define the
refined irony of my imagery.

So take these grapes,
ripened unlike those on your
vines,
& roll them on the tongue,
develop your untrained pallete

& swallow this verse like
the fine wine it is.

Author notes

France.

Wine has been a pride of the French. Originating in Burgundy, the Chardonnay grape has been a staple in French wine. Due to the stoney ground of Burgundy, its growing season is quite short, making it rippen quickly. In recent years, many clones of the grape have been created & other countries, including the US, have tarnished the pride of both France & her chardonnay.

I read this and thought it unworthy of my comments and yet, I still wish to say something. That is my brother you chose to be mean to...there was really no need and all you've done by writing and posting this, is show the measure of who you are as a person to the rest of AP. Tyler has no ego...he's the most genuine person I've ever met on AP and if you ceased to seek only the shimmer of your own reflection...you would know that just because you understand what you write, it doesn't mean to say that anyone else will...if you fail to take advice that is given freely, in order that you improve as a poet, then I would say it is your problem and not his.
I'm being polite, but I think you know as well as I, that this is below the belt and certainly uncalled for.

    interesting.
i've never read a piece quite like this.
filled with gorgeous imagery, i love the lines :

    but an inebriated ego
    spews verbal vomit
    & fermented phrases
    sipped from another's glass.

as i actually remember the whole fermentation thing from science ^.^
i've never really been a fan of chardonnay, but i do like this poem. i could read it over and over again.

How intoxicating. I think there are a few people I would like to refer to this piece. Ego can truly butcher a poets chance to mature. I thought this piece was very different from your other work. Its great. I haven't been here on AP for a while, can't wait to catch up on your other writings.
