We Are Ghosts

Here I stand alone
Lord of all that I survey
The tears I cried for us
For memories of what could have been
The pressure's on I'm falling down
Into depths I've never known

I did what I thought was right
For all of us, you see!
And though I took all of the control
When I lied
I lied to set us all free
Because the truth is like barbed wire
It can only bind a sacred heart

For we are ghosts
One and all of us
And for the most part
If you care to see
We are ghosts
Cloaked in invisibility
We might have made it
If we tried
We are the aftermath
Of these untruths and lies

See how long it's taken me
To hide from the words once spoken
For what is done, is done
And nothing can change the past
For even if we try to bury the pain
It will rise up tenfold instead
Like Lazarus in days of old
We're just raising up the dead

While the songs we chant
An anthem moan
That fills us with its sounds
We are merely the instruments
We created when we were denied
We were filled with anguish and deceit
And all this foolish pride

For we are ghosts
One and all of us
And for the most part
If you care to see
We are ghosts
Cloaked in invisibility
We might have made it
If we tried
We are the aftermath
Of these untruths and lies

    A most inter-resting ...

poem that shares thoughts that have occassionly ghosted silently through my mind when desire flirts with reality and the truth of matters step to the forefront and disturbs the peace of mind that is so neccessary for good health. I'm not sure of what option you chose for this poem but you certainly have titled it well. joy
