Jimmy’s Pet Lesson - Ian
Jimmy chasing tabby cat
Squealing with delight,
Wobbly legs and baby fat
Most delightful sight!
Mother pausing from her toil
Smiles with Mother’s pride,
Listens to the kettle boil
Watches from inside
Jimmy catches tabby then
Squeezing with his might,
Tabby jumps back down again
Whimpering with fright.
Jimmy grabs his pet again,
Tabby gives a hiss,
Then he feels a searing pain
Something’s gone amiss!
Gazes at his wounded hand,
Feels the pain intense,
Jimmy cannot understand
Tabby’s quick defence.
Mother watching from above
Rushes to his aid,
Smothers wounded child with love
Puts a quick band aid
Dry’s away poor Jimmy’s tear,
Croons a lullaby,
Tender kisses banish fear
Tabby sits nearby.
“Mustn’t hurt poor tabby dear”
Mother croons to Jim,
“Tabby scratches out of fear
Please be kind to him.”

This is just so precious! Is that your real grandchild in the picture? If so, my goodness, he is so adorable! An absolute cutie patootie! I enjoyed reading this very much. I think this is an event in many a home that contain both pets and small children. And this poem shows the beauty of a mothers love as well. Pam

Ian, this is precious. I have a few animals (too many), and cats are a favorite around the girls. One day our newest boy kitten scratched Maura, and she cried. I told her he scratches because he loves her...and that made her feel better, so off she went. THE VERY next day, the little booger scratched the crap out of me, I MEAN HE DREW BLOOD...and of course, what does Maura say to Mommy?
Geezz Mama, He Must Really Love You!

She's something else. So's your Jimmy. He's a beautiful child, and you should be so proud!
Bless you Ian, your grandchildren are lovely.
