My heart skipped a beat, was it really you standing there in the rain?
Happy tears stung my eyes, washing away the doubt & fear of never seeing you
again
There were stars in your eyes as you took me in your arms, they shone much
brighter than any I had ever found in the skies
We were soon oblivious to the fact that our clothes were soaking wet
My father made an excuse to leave us, knowing this was where I wanted to be
there were no doubts and no regrets
I still remember the scent of your cologne as our fingers enterlaced, holding
me tightly as we took all the back roads home
I would have gladly spent forever there in your arms, dancing only to our heartbeats
as the angels witnessed from the clouds
I dreamed of being your wife, loving you forever, those things would have made
me so very proud
I could not see the storm brewing or sense the clouds about to break, drowning
my innocent heart, how could I have known you would be my biggest mistake?
So young, starved for affection, silly and naive, they all said you were married but
love wouldn't let me listen, refused to believe
It could have rained forever and that wouldn't have been enough to erase your
memory from my heart
All the pieces scattered, suffocating, drowning in my own tears, mixed with the
warm summer rain
You had used it, lied to it, left it broken, bleeding, so many pieces,
so completely torn apart...
