Conformed

Missing image

Bound by people's expectations,
pulled in every direction
except that which she desires...

Twisted, shaped, molded...
Exhausted from resisting,
losing her identity.

Finally succumbing,
she's now who she is not.

Great take! It happens all too often, people want you to be what THEY would like to see.. and it is sad that we can sometimes be so insecure that we give in, and become exactly what it is we aren't. I know I've been there... But with time, hopefully growth will come and she will bloom into her own being Lovely write!

    Very nice.

Great poem. You have expressed alot about peer pressure in very few words. I cannot find a line that stands out. It is all very good.

"she's now who she is not"...wow...a lot of times, this is exactly me....accepting what other people think i should be, to the point of believing it myself.

Absolutely brilliant. Xia, you are THE man. Seriously. I have a friend...who feels exactly...EXACTLY like this...and you have described it down to the T. Simple language, nothing overly complicated...yet as powerful as anything you've ever written. Good luck my friend.

Oh, I know! When I was an Army wife people expected me to be a certain way, I couldn't have much fun! This is very nice.

Please tell your beautiful wife that I wasn't flirting with you!
