My Life

They say I gotta,
But I don’t  they can’t control me,
I’m practically an adult.

I have my own dreams and goals.
They don’t think I can achieve them,
will I know I can and that’s final.

I will live my own life.
Its their fault they don’t have a life,
There dream life is not my life,
I live the way I want to and always will.

Author notes

This is true for me and I'm afriad it might be for my kids when i have them.  I'm afraid I'm going to push them to hard and they will rebuke like I have.

    I hear you

    To guide is one thing to push is another . Show respect and love and it shall be rturned and the ways of life if shown within the family are ones of love so shall the child follow if the ways of life is of confusion and destruction they will rebel and be lost and unsure yet they wont know this until they hear the slamming of all the doors

    Some have goals

    To have goals in your life and be determined to see them through is wonderful if the goals you seak are good ones .Ones that will help you in your life and helps you learn a trade that will sustain you and you can take care of yourself . This is a good write and yes I had many through my life tell me poetry was a waste of time and my answer to them was I am sorry you cant understand it but poetry speaks from peoples hearts.

    I can totally relate to this...not in the dreams and goals sense, but in parental control. Like you, I'm afraid I'll control my kids the same way my parents control me.
