Fog and mist off lakes arise
Bring hollow emptiness of sound
Where loons were heard in distant cries
around
Eerie forms in water swimming
While morning dawn shines through
bringing
Droplets of dew on marshland grasses.
While noisily a young moose passes
clumsily
Eating weeds from lake bottom.
The flap of beaver tails awakens
Young ducklings nesting at lakes edge
now taking their morning swim
Again since evening the morning cry
Sounds of dawn again come nigh
While morning sun shimmers on lake
nearby.
Another day on one of Saskatchewans'
one thousand lakes!

Author notes
Having seen a beaver pond in early morning in our northern Saskatchewan lakes, brought memories to mind of the loons cries, and the moose in early morning.SAskatchewan is one of our Canadian provinces where I live..

Stunning...
Excellent imagery was put into this write... Very beautifully written, such a thoughtful poem!

Very first impression as I started to read was... "magical" I guess when we appreciate nature it is a form of 'magic' I loved the way you were able to bring the beauty of what you saw to life Beautiful

I could just see those little ducklings. And, I always love the sound of a beaver's tail slapping the water, almost as much as his cunuck cunuck call in the wilderness. Especially beautiful was your description of the early morning sounds and sights. It just puts you right there.

Can hear the loons, duckling and moose in this write Rosemary. Nicely written with great imagery and elegant. Good luck with the contest.
