There's a cyberman in the loft.
There's a slitheen inside my jumpsuit.
(I think the Doctor's going soft)
But then
With a whizz and a whirr and a thrumming throb,
and pulsing lights of brightest blue,
the TARDIS now comes into view
and out of it steps Doctor Who.
There's an Ood with demonic red-eye.
There's an adipose on my scales.
There's a Chula ship on my doorstep
(and in the distance a Gelth wails)
But then
With a crash and a bang and a sonic whirr,
and familiar lights of blue so bright,
the Doctor now comes into sight
and keeps us safe throughout the night.
There's a Hath there in the river.
There's a Jagrafess swamped in ice.
There's a Game Station down the alley.
(and the Doctor won't be nice)
Because
With a shout and an oath and an angry yell,
and the songs of a ghostly choir,
the Doctor faces the Empire,
his eyes burning with a constant fire.
There's Rose standing at Bad Wolf Bay.
There's Martha with weapons and guns.
There's Donna stripped of her memory.
(as the new companion runs)
And still
With Mickey or with Jack or with Sarah-Jane Smith,
or another of his many friends,
the Last Time Lord follows the trend
and another companion reaches the end.
Author notes
I wanted to get across some of the ideas that the producers gave towards the end of the last series - really hitting home the fact that the Doctor is a warrior, and he is always accompanied by death.
I really love the episode with the ninth doctor where he is so relieved that 'just for once, everyone lives', because it says so much about who the Doctor is.
Any comments much appreciated, and if you haven't seen the series, watch them. Start from the beginning or you won't appreciate the first episodes so much (I'm so dissapointed I only joined halfway through the tenth doctor) and don't watch Torchwood till you get to the Dr Who episode with torchwood institute in!

This is an awesome poem. You told everything that was in the show perfectly. I have seen Series 1, 3 and 4. I need to see Series 2. I plan on getting it on DVD when I got the money. Enjoyed the read! Thank you for entering my contest.

I've seen most of series 1, all of series 4 and a few from series 2 and 3.
They've just done a re-run of series 1 on BBC3, and I think series 2 and 3 are following pretty soon.
And thanks for gold!
