written in a book,
for all to see;
my hair-raising terrors,
nightmares that don’t end,
even when the last chapter is read.
Voluminous volumes of visions
bathed in betrayals,
muddied by mistakes,
poisonously penned by ink
dyed with enemy’s blood,
staining forever.
Lies, lavished by lovers
cast aside,
laid open like sores
festered with falsities,
now bluntly bound
in the history of fairy tales
told to gullible generations.

Thank you so much islekine - so pleased you liked this 'dark' write.

Great imagery, even if it's dark.
Wow, I couldn't live in a whole life of nightmares, an occasional one for me is more than enough!

-
-
Thank you 'Freed by Mercy' - so glad you enjoyed 'poisonously penned'.
So many people live lives full of nightmares - such a shame.
best wishes

I like the way you've successfully collected together and penned this, to describe a book of stories both perhaps valuable to pass on to others but also to make a spare copy, so it can be given a relieving Viking burial.
Great work!

Hello.
I checked that picture out, sheesh, I don't know what is wrong with your monitor for it looked all cute to me; I was expecting that book from 'The Evil Dead' or something, ahhaha, after reading your poem. But it is true you can't always believe fairy tales (apart from the one about Beast of course, ahhaha).
Anyway your write: Has some great alliteration, expressive, but the best thing is the insights it provides. I don't know you though, so I can't comment on how factual it is, and how much of yourself you saw in that picture. The lovers stanza is the most interesting; that page could be present in quite a few books, and is an insightful and honest description , sad state of affairs in a way.
Overall a well written piece. I wish you well in the contest.
My regards.

LOLOL - thank you so much Ace - glad you at least thought it was well written.

I have no idea whose muse invaded my mind..
...the picture is cute...lol....that's just the thoughts I got - based on nothing in my life at all. It could just be my thoughts are tangled with a friends right now - her son just found out, after 4 yrs. of raising his son (after his wife took off) - that his son is not his!!! his fairy-tale life is now a nightmare as his x and child have left, leaving him with no rights at all (and the story she tells is so different from the truth) - so sad.....anyways....
'Evil Dead' - great movie for special effects! A little strange, though...lol.
My 'muse' tends to like the dark, and sees the dark side to most things. Maybe because I grew up watching all the old horror/sci-fi movies, and my sons all watched them plus all the 'Nightmare on Elm Street'-type movies....lolol.....who knows, but it is so far removed from the easy-going, clown of the classroom joker that I am, that most people just look at my dark writes in total shock!
not being able to understand where they come from (could it be the books I read maybe?
)
again, thanks

(edit - oh, the books? Dean Koontz, Stephen King types, murder mysteries)

soooo deep yo i really loved this an the rhythm of the words grouped
Voluminous volumes of visions
bathed in betrayals,
muddied by mistakes,
poisonously penned by ink
Just love this part! do you really need "by ink?" i love the double word flows. anyway WTG this is awesome!

-
-
Thank you so much 'Darkwell' - I'm pleased you enjoyed 'poisonously penned'.
lol - have to have 'by ink'....it connects to the rest of the thought and to the following lines:
'poisonously penned by ink
dyed with enemy’s blood,
staining forever.'
Thanks!

A deeply touching write...one I can relate to on so many levels!
Lies, lavished by lovers
cast aside,
laid open like sores
festered with falsities,
now bluntly bound
in the history of fairy tales
told to gullible generations
How sadly true!!!
Best of luck in the contest!!!

Thank you Az - so pleased you enjoyed 'poisonously penned'....there are so many untruths printed in books, magazines, newspapers, court records, etc., etc., etc. - and yet they are taken as 'gospel truth'....I guess that's where these thoughts came from...lol...maybe I am watching too much of 'entertainment tonight'????...lololololol
